Trax Road Swing Continues
February 24, 2003 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
Road Swing Continues: The Macon Trax continue their 10 game road swing with three more games this weekend. The Trax play at Knoxville against Ice Bears on Thursday; visit the Jacksonville Barracudas on Friday; and travel to meet the Winston-Salem Parrots on Saturday. All three games begin at 7:30 p.m. eastern time. All Trax road games are broadcast via the internet and can be accessed through www.IRN.FM or the Trax website at www.macontrax.com.
Making Their Move: The Trax won two out of three games last week to solidify their hold on third place in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The Trax posted a hard fought 5-3 win at Cape Fear on Monday and then defeated Winston-Salem 6-3 in Savannah, Georgia on Friday night, before dropping a 6-2 decision at Knoxville on Saturday night.
Ray Stevens Look Out: The man who made the novelty song "The Streak" famous would have nothing on a couple of red hot Trax players. Tom Stewart saw his point scoring streak end at a league record 15 games when he was held off the scoresheet on Saturday in Knoxville. But that record was tied that night by teammate Luke Murphy who collected a goal giving him a point in 15 straight games.
During his streak, Stewart collected 16 goals and 22 assists to take over the league scoring lead. He has 34 goals and 47 assists for 81 points. Murphy, who had an 11 game point streak to start the season, has 11 goals and 13 assists during his current streak.
Flying High: Center Jeremy Kyte has also built a scoring streak of his own, with points in his last six games. In that stretch, Kyte has five goals and four assists for nine points.
Happy Hour Again: The Trax will resume their Hockey Happy Hour at Locos on Riverside Drive on February 24th at 6 p.m.
Looking Ahead: The Trax have announced their season ticket prices for next season will remain the same as this year. Ticket orders are now being taken with fans ordering by March 1st receiving a 20% discount on their ticket order.
