Trax Fall On Win Night
January 31, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âThe Trax guaranteed a win for their fans Saturday night but came up short. Ryan Prentice's goal for the Slammers at 12:03 of the final period gave the visiting team the 2-1 victory.
It was a hard fought battle by both teams as they played a mostly clean but physical contest. Alabama started the scoring early when Chad Peck netted his seventh goal of the season. Macon peppered Alabama goalie Fred Beaubien with 12 shots in the first 20 minutes, but could not score.
The second period saw Alabama dominate the shots on goal board. They outshot the Trax 14-5 but Trax goaltender Geoff Faulkner made some great saves to keep the home team in the contest.
The lone goal of the second period came from Craig Miller. Miller's thirteenth goal of the season tied the game at the 15:28 mark of the middle period.
The Trax and the Slammers came out for the period and were visibly tired. Both teams used a lot of dump and chase hockey to offset the tired legs. The Trax finished off a seven game in nine day stretch with a 1-3-3 record.
The loss dropped the Trax to six points behind the Slammers for the fourth and final playoff spot in the WHA2. All fans in attendance for tonight's game will receive free tickets for Tuesday's game against the Lakeland Loggerheads.
To redeem your free tickets stop by the Trax office with the Saturday, Jan. 31 ticket stub and Macon will exchange the tickets for the 7:35 pm puck drop. This is the fans last time to see the Trax before they head out on a ten game road trip.
Chuggin' With The Trax will return to the airwaves on Monday, Feb. 2. The show moves to Applebee's Grill & Bar in Warner Robins on Russell Parkway. Join Adam Minnick, Head Coach Tommy Stewart, and Forward Ryan Rivard from 6-7pm. The show will air on www.irn.fm from 9-10pm the same night.
