Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]â More stability has been shown from the Macon Trax offices. General Manager Joe Suk and Head Coach Tommy Stewart have been resigned for the upcoming season. As per team policy the details of the contracts will not be released.
Both Suk and Stewart are well known in the Middle Georgia Region. The men were teammates on the Macon Whoopee when Suk was a veteran leader and Stewart was a young player. Later Stewart played for the Trax in their first year when he won league MVP honors for the 2002-2003 season.
"I had no doubt in my mind I wanted to be in Macon again this year." Said Suk, "The fans have been responsible for my desire to be here as a player, coach, and general manager, they have really stuck by this team through thick and thin. Tommy and I both would like to thank David and Ruth Waronker for our opportunity. Without them, there would be no hockey in Middle Georgia."
With Stewart being officially signed to a contract extension, he can begin signing players for the upcoming season. The Trax expect to start training camp in mid-October.
"I think the fans will be very pleased with the group I have coming in this year." Said Stewart, "We have some unfinished business to take care of on the ice and I know the returning players feel the same."
The Trax expect to begin announcing player signings next week. Macon will embark on their SPHL season facing old rivals from Columbus, Huntsville, Cape Fear, and Orlando.
Season tickets and corporate packages for the 2004-05 season are on sale now for as low as $99. To be a part of exciting Macon Trax hockey call the office at 478-742-4849.
