Traverse City Takes Series vs. Rockers

Ashwaubenon, Wis. - The Traverse City Pit Spitters defeated the Green Bay Rockers Wednesday night, 12-8.

The Pit Spitters took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second behind a Jacob Charon double that scored Marshall Toole and Glenn Miller.

In the sixth, Traverse City added to its lead. The club scored seven runs in the frame, and it was capped off by a three-run home run by Colin Summerhill.

Traverse City scored three more in the seventh, on a bases loaded walk, fielder's choice and error.

The Rockers got on the board in the seventh, when Jake Mastillo hit his first home run of the season over the right center field wall.

Green Bay scored six times in the bottom of the ninth. Two home runs were hit in the inning, one by Matt Scannell (his sixth of the season) and another by Luke Ballweg (his first). Each home run drove in two.

Kyle Jungers had a nice start in his Rockers debut. He pitched five-plus innings, gave up one hit, four runs, four walks and struck out 12, including eight consecutive strikeouts.

The Rockers are back at it Thursday against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. First pitch from Capital Credit Union Park is set for 6:35 p.m.
