Danbury Trashers News Release
ROANOKE, VA--Following a night where the Trashers gave a 3rd period away to the Vipers and with a chance at first place on the line, Danbury jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the opening period and built a 4-0 advantage before holding off Roanoke 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Dave MacIsaac was activated from the IR before game time and scored his second of the season just 40 seconds into the opening period, while David Hymovitz added his 11th of the season at the 16:01 mark to give the Trashers a 2-0 lead.
Danbury added another goal in the second period as Sergei Durdin banged in a rebound for his second goal of the season. Both the first and third Trashers goals were assisted by Carlyle Lewis, who finished with three assists in the game.
Jamie Thompson then scored a goal for the third straight game as he lifted the Trashers to a 4-0 lead by the 10:26 mark of the final period. The Vipers countered with a pair of power play goals by Jan Jas and Mike Wiggins to close the gap, but the Vipers ran out of steam.
Jayme Platt stopped 22 of 24 shots to earn his second win of the week and lift the Trashers record to 16-7-4 for 36 points and sole possession of first place, one ahead of the Adirondack Frostbite. Jamie Hodson saved 21 of 24 in the loss, as the Vipers are now 8-12-4 this season.
