DANBURY, CT-Roanoke snapped a seven-game winless streak as they made up a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd period to send the game to a shootout, where Josh Tataryn beat Sly Daigle for the game-winner in the 5th round as the Vipers topped the Trashers 4-3 on Wednesday night.
Danbury opened the scoring with just 1:04 remaining in the 1st period as Jeff Daw fought a close shot by Jamie Hodson for the only goal in the opening frame.
David Hymovitz opened the scoring in the 2nd period as he one-timed a Carlyle Lewis pass just out of Hodson's reach to give the Trashers a 2-0 lead at the 3:10 mark. Danbury then added a 3rd goal as Drew Omicioli netted his 13th of the season on the power play at the 11:29 mark to give Danbury a 3-0 lead.
However, while Danbury dominated after the first two periods, Roanoke was just as dominant over the final 20 minutes as David Beauregard netted his 14th of the season at the 1:42 mark to give Roanoke their first goal. The Vipers then added another as Josh Tataryn scored his 10th of the season 10:07 mark, then tied the score as Jan Jas knocked in a rebound past Sly Daigle at the 18:12 mark.
In the shootout, Gray Shaneberger scored in the second round for Roanoke, while Jamie Thompson tied it up in the 3rd round. The teams traded off missed shots in the 4th round, then Tataryn scored the game-winner in the 5th round.
