Trashers dump QC 5-1 to even series 2-2

MOLINE, IL-Shawn Collymore and David Beauregard each scored a pair of goals, while Jayme Platt stopped 26 of 27 shots as Danbury evened their series with Quad City with a 5-1 win over the Mallards at the MARK on Friday night.

For the 4th straight game the Trashers took a 1-0 opening period lead as Beauregard scored his first of the night and 3rd of the series at the 4:38 mark for the only goal of the opening period.

Unlike the first three games where the Mallards tied the score at 1-1, Danbury extended their lead with a power play goal from Drew Omicioli at the 6:49 mark. Collymore added a shorthanded goal at the 11:04 mark to take a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after two periods.

Quad City finally scored in the third as Patrick Nadeau netted a power play goal off a nice feed from Glenn Detulleo at the 2:50 mark, but Collymore answered 1:09 later with his second of the night and 5th of the series from Beauregard and Mario Larocque, who finished with two assists.

Beauregard added an empty net shorthanded goal at 18:16 as Quad City tried to close the gap late in the contest.

Platt stopped 26 of 27 in his first playoff start, while Tapp saved 36 of 40 in a losing cause as the series is even at 2-2.

The series stays in Moline, Illinois for game five, which will take place on Friday and Saturday night at 8pm at the MARK of the Quad Cities. Game six will take place at the Danbury Ice Arena on May 1st at 7:00pm. A possible game seven would take place on Tuesday May 2nd at 7pm.
