Danbury Trashers News Release
ROANOKE, VA-For the second straight game the Danbury Trashers had to deal with a last-place, albeit pesky Roanoke squad, as the Trashers were able to make up two one-goal deficits, then rolled to a 6-3 win over the Vipers on Sunday at the Roanoke Civic Center.
Jan Jas scored his second goal in three games against the Trashers as he knocked in a rebound at the 12:53 mark on the power play to give the Vipers a 1-0 first period lead. However, former Viper David Beauregard tied the score with his 35th of the season at the 18:57 mark, assisted by Alex Goupil and Danny Stewart.
Former Trasher Carlyle Lewis endeared himself to his new club by scoring just 22 seconds into the second period to give the Vipers a 2-1 lead, but Danbury tied the score at the 9:50 mark as JM Daoust scored past Glenn Rider. Daoust's 26th of the season was followed shortly thereafter as Drew Omicioli's 39th of the season came just 39 seconds later as Danbury led 3-2 after the second period.
The Trashers continued their onslaught in the final period as Eric Lind; Goupil (shorthanded) and Collymore would all score for Danbury before the Vipers netted a late goal as Josh Tatayrn scored his 17th of the season at the 16:38 mark.
Sly Daigle stopped 27 of 30 shots for the win, while Ridler saved 42 of 48 Danbury shots in the loss. The Trashers now lead Adirondack by 10 points in the UHL East with a 39-15-11 record.
The Danbury Trashers travel to Rockford to face the IceHogs this Friday night at 8:05pm, followed by a Saturday night appearance against the Missouri River Otters at the St. Charles Family Arena starting at 8pm.
Danbury returns home on Friday March 31st against the Elmira Jackals starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at DanburyTrashers.com or by calling 866-565-PUCK.
