Trapp out for Saturday Clash at Toronto FC
May 31, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Columbus Crew SC News Release
Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter confirmed that Wil Trapp did not travel to Toronto ahead of tonight's match against Toronto FC (5:00 p.m. ET / Time Warner Cable SportsChannel) after suffering what the Crew boss called a "slight knee knock."
"When evaluating Wil on Friday afternoon, we didn't feel he was going to be ready for Saturday," said Berhalter. "We decided it was best for him to stay in Columbus this weekend and we'll re-evaluate on Monday."
Berhalter also confirmed that Homegrown Player Matt Wiet is set to join the Crew's USL-PRO affiliate, the Dayton Dutch Lions, for a game-by-game loan for Sunday's contest against Rochester.
"We wanted Matt to get some game action as part of the recovery process from his knee surgery," said Berhalter. "We know that he's been working hard and this is an encouraging sign."
