Trois-Rivières, May 19, 2022 - Khari Jones' group was all smiles when they finally took the field at Stade Diablos in Trois-Rivières, on Thursday afternoon, kicking off the 2022 Montreal Alouettes training camp.

Close to 100 players were back to work, laying down the first bricks of the 2022 season.

"It's quite the feeling to be back on the field," said Alouettes Defensive Line Coach Greg Quick. "The guys are happy and the coaches are smiling. This practice was perfect for loosening your body and getting familiar with our new environment."

Intra-squad game

With all the schedule shuffling happening to get camp rolling, the team's intra-squad game will take place on Monday, May 23 at 7 pm, at Stade Diablos. A pre-game party will be organized for fans in the parking lot, starting at 4 pm.

Transaction

The Alouettes added American defensive lineman Leighton McCarthy (Florida Atlantic) to the roster.

Rapid fire

Following the team's practice, the Cowboys de l'Ouest played école Saint-Louis-de-France in an entertaining football game... It was the first day on the job for the 2022 first overall pick Tyrell Richards. He had a big smile and seemed happy to be on the field... Coaches Byron Archambault (special teams), David Deschamps (defensive and special teams), as well as Mike Lionello (receivers) were also on their first day in their new roles. They already seemed comfortable... Quarterback Dominique Davis threw some good passes to his receivers... As usual, Jake Wieneke caught several balls thrown his way... Defensive lineman Almondo Sewell seemed to be in great shape as he put his aggressiveness in full display.
