Oshawa Generals News Release
Day four of Training Camp 2014 took place Saturday, Aug. 30. It was another full day of hockey, featuring the second and third Red VS. White games. Players once again played games of two 35-minute periods, showcasing their endurance and skill on the ice.
Red VS. White Game 2 @ 9:15 a.m.
Team Red showed up for the second game of Training Camp looking for a win, following their 7-0 loss to Team White the day before. Period one was a fast paced, evenly matched half and would remain scoreless until about halfway through when Team Red's Connor Bramwell opened the scoring. Team White quickly tied up the game with a goal from Stephen Desrocher.
The second period continued with the increased intensity and fast paced action. Team White's Jacob Harrison was first to find the back of the net in the second half, bringing the score to 2-1. Team Red later retaliated with a goal from Bradley Latour. A quick tussle between Justice Dundas and Will Petschenig put Dundas in the penalty box. Tension was high as multiple players from Team Red and Team White would take their time in the penalty box, leading to a lot of 5 on 4 action.
Both teams had several scoring chances throughout the half, many hitting the post for each side. Later in the second, Tristan Liggett put one in the net, giving Team Red a 3-2 lead. In the final minutes of the game, Team White pulled their goalie and secured the win with a goal from Anthony Cirelli.
Kenny Appleby and Liam Devine shared goaltending efforts for Team White and Jeremy Brodeur was between the posts for Team Red.
Team Red came out looking for redemption and found it here today with a final score of 4-2.
Final Score
Team Red - 4 | Team White - 2
Red VS. White Game 3 @ 3:45 p.m.
After achieving redemption earlier today, Team Red looked to keep their momentum alive. It did not take them too long to find the net and take a 1-0 lead thanks to Team Red's Tyler Randerson. In a rubber match from yesterday's fight, Jacob Harrison and Nikko Sablone had another fight shortly after the first goal in the game. Team Red went on to score two more goals in the first half thanks to Bradley Latour and Josh Sterk. It was 3-0 after the first half of hockey for Team Red.
The second half proved to be exciting as Team White fought back into this game. Team White scored two goals nearly simultaneously to get within a goal and make it 3-2 for Team Red. Tough guy Justice Dundas proving he can also find the net made it 4-2 for Team Red giving them some breathing room. Stephen Desrocher had a nice goal off the crossbar in this period too. The game ended with a final score of 5-4 for Team Red.
Jeremy Brodeur and Liam Devine played the full game, and both competed well. After losing the first two scrimmages, Team Red went on to win the best of three series 2-1.
Final Score
Team White - 4 | Team Red - 5
