Adirondack Trail Blazers News Release

The Adirondack Trail Blazers returned home after a weekend on the road and a day off to face the Victor RailRiders for the second time at Hansen Aggregates Field in Boonville, New York.

Round two saw the exact opposite of Thursday's offensive frenzy from the RailRiders.

Connor Donahue saw his first start of the season for the Blazers and held the visitors to only one hit in five innings with four strikeouts. Victor starter Brennan Smith recorded similar numbers, but struck out eight batters.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when the RailRiders picked up base hits from Dale Wickham, Nick Russo and an RBI single from Landon Powell to bring in Wickham and take the lead 1-0.

The Blazers would go 1-2-3 for the next two innings before tying the game after a wild pitch from Eion McAvinchey would send Paul Piccolino home from third.

Extra innings would be needed to decide the winner for the Blazers' second consecutive home game; both teams were shutout in the tenth.

Entering the home half the eleventh, the Trail Blazers were looking to repeat Friday's dramatic finish after a walk-off single from Brandon Orbe to triumph over the defending league champion Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs. This time, it would be Chris Collins with a blooper to center field to bring home Mitchell Schneider from second base. Collins was greeted by his teammates after rounding first as he won the game for the Blazers, 1-2.

Adirondack improves to 2-3 in league play, while Victor now rests at 3-2.

The Trail Blazers will take the field on Wednesday in a double-header on the road against the Utica Blue Sox. The two were supposed to play in Utica on Sunday, but the game was postponed due to rain.
