Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

The Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey organization has been named as a member of the 2008 McLean County Toys for Tots "Santa's Workshop." The PrairieThunder received the award for its continued support of the well-being of children in McLean County.

In addition, Toys for Tots' officials announced U.S. Cellular Coliseum is a toy gathering location for the holiday season. Drop boxes are placed throughout U.S. Cellular Coliseum to collect new/unwrapped toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Anyone donating a new/unwrapped toy at the Dec. 13 PrairieThunder game against Kalamazoo at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum will receive a buy-one, get-one voucher to a future PrairieThunder game.

PrairieThunder officials also have announced the Dec. 13 game will be the third annual "Teddy Toss Game" where fans can bring stuffed animals to throw on the ice following the team's first goal. The stuffed animals will be donated to the Toys for Tots campaign.

"We are honored to be recognized by the McLean County Toys for Tots organization," said PrarieThunder general manager Jerry McBurney. "This will be the third year we have joined efforts with Toys for Tots to help children in McLean County and we are proud of our association with them."

Other highlights of the Dec. 13 game include an appearance by Zack and Cody of the Disney channel show "The Suite of Zack and Cody" who will sign autographs on the concourse level from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

It also will be "Beat the Hunger Night with the PrairieThunder" where fans bringing a canned food good or paper products to the game will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for an autographed PrairieThunder team picture and hockey stick.
