(Kannapolis, NC) â Asheville won the pitchers duel with Kannapolis taking Saturday night's game with the Intimidators 4-1. Ben Crockett (2-6) won his second game giving Asheville seven innings allowing one run on four hits. Garrett Gentry put the visiting Tourists (15-27) ahead 1-0 in the first inning with an RBI double of Intimidators starter Brian Miller and scoring Jeff Salazar.
The Intimidators (19-22) responded in kind with Edgar Varela's sacrifice fly to score Pedro Lopez to tie the game in the bottom of the first. Varela finished the night 2-3 with an RBI. Asheville touched up Miller in the second adding two runs to pull ahead 3-1. Miller (3-4) went six innings in the loss surrendering three runs on seven hits. Todd Deininger pitched two perfect innings before giving up an unearned run in the ninth when Trey George scored on errors by Pedro Lopez and Darren Ciraco. Felix Arellan struck out Garrett Gentry, the only batter he faced, to end the inning.
