
Tortugas Fall 5-2 in Homestand Finale

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Ibandel Isabel grounded out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth as the Tortugas dropped the final game of their 11 games in 10 days homestand on Sunday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Daytona finished the stretch 6-5.
Bradenton got the scoring started in the top of the first. With runners on the corners, Albert Baur grounded into a double play, with Jared Oliva scoring from third.
Daytona tied the game three batters into their half of the first. Michael Beltre led off the inning with a triple, then scored on a Bruce Yari sacrifice fly.
The Marauders scored two more in the top of the third. Baur and Hunter Owen hit back-to-back two out singles off of LHP Wennington Romero, then Lucas Tancas drove both runners in with a double to go up 3-1.
Bradenton added another in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Romero tossed a wild pitch to allow John Bormann to score from third to go up 4-1.
Daniel Sweet made it a 4-2 game when he hit a two-out solo homerun off of LHP Jordan Jess, his fourth of the year and third of the homestand.
In the top of the ninth, Bradenton added an insurance run. With a Oliva on third, Baur struck out on a pitch in the dirt. When Morgan Lofstrom threw down to first to complete the strikeout, Oliva came dashing home to put his team up 5-2.
Romero (8-5) is handed the loss. He allowed four runs on nine hits in five innings with two strikeouts and three walks. RHP Mike Wallace (4-6) takes the win, he allowed one run on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.
The Tortugas will hit the road on Monday to begin a six game road trip. LHP Scott Moss (10-2, 3.58) will start the opener in Clearwater.
First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7 PM, with coverage beginning at 6:50 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.
NOTES: The Tortugas fall to 0-27 when trailing after 8 innings... Daytona has lost seven straight rubber matches... The Tortugas are 7-9 at home in the second half of the season... Daytona finished 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight men on base... Michael Beltre finished 4-for-5 with a triple, his first four hit game as a Tortuga. He finished 9-for-14 during the three game series with Bradenton... Daniel Sweet has hit three homeruns over a five game span after having just one homerun over his first 67 games... Bruce Yari has driven in the Tortugas first run in five straight games.
