Torrie Jung Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced Tuesday that Torrie Jung has been named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week.

Torrie Jung had an outstanding week in net, with 3 shut-outs in only 8 days. The first shut-out came Friday, January 27th when the Bucks visited the Killer Bees. The Bucks won in overtime 1-0. The next two shut-outs came against the Brahmas at home, where the Bucks won 6-0 and 1-0. Jung remained perfect while facing a total of 89 shots over the three games.

"Torrie has really picked up his game," states Head Coach Serge Dube. "He has been a big part of this team and will be relied on the second half of the season."

Jung was drafted in the seventh round (#183 overall) by the Tampa Bay Lighning in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He was called up to the NHL for one game with the Edmonton Oilers as a backup goaltender on November 21, 2009. Jung appeared in 40 games last year. During his rookie season, Jung had a goals against average of 3.27 and a save percentage of .904. He made a total of 1135 saves.
