Toros Host Bakersfield for Weekend Series

Austin, TX March 25, 2010- The Austin Toros will host Military and First Responders Night on Saturday March 27, against the Bakersfield Jam at the Austin Convention Center.

"The Austin Toros are proud to celebrate the men and women who put their lives at risk protecting the lives of others," said Toros Chief Operating Officer Peter Lubell. "We invite everyone who has served in the military and all first responders and their families to come out for this very special night as we pay tribute to the heroes of our local communities and our country."

Saturday night's game is projected to be a sell-out and will be presented by BAE Systems and TKC Global. Both companies are donating tickets to military personnel and their families that evening.

Prior to the 7:30 p.m. tip-off there will be a Guns vs. Hoses basketball game. The annual game consists of Firefighters and Police Officers from Austin competing for bragging rights. Fire Chief Rhoda Mae Kerr and Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo will serve as honorary coaches in the game.

On Sunday, the Toros will host their second annual Pet Adoption Night in their final regular season meeting with the Bakersfield Jam. The Toros hope to raise awareness for animals in need of a loving home.

Several rescue groups including Austin Pets Alive, Lucky Mutts, and Street Cat Rescue will be in attendance with pets available for adoption.
