Tucson Toros News Release

TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros have set their magic number at "one" as they defeated the St. George Roadrunners 11-5, Friday night. With the win the Toros improve to 37-33, 20-12 in the second half and maintain their hold on first place in the South Division.

Pete Hartmann, (2-2) got the start for the Toros, but he didn't figure in the decision as he left the game after four innings of work. The veteran lefty gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits before giving way to the Toros bullpen.

Toby Nordman was the first Toro out of the pen and he earned the win, improving to 2-1 on the season. The rookie left handed pitcher threw three and two-third innings of quality relief as he only surrendered two hits and didn't give up any runs.

Jason Hanna finished out the game for the home side, where was also on top of his game, only allowing one hit over one and a third.

Curt Miaso had a stellar night at the plate as he went 3-4, hit a triple and drove in four RBI. Junior Spivey also had a great offensive night as he went 3-5, scored two runs and drove in one.

Andre Marshall and Dustin Yount also had multi-hit performances as they each went 2-3 in the win. Marshall also scored three runs while Yount drove in a pair.

The two teams will hook up again tomorrow night at Hi Corbett field, for game two of the four-game series. Gates open up at 5:00 pm tomorrow as there will be a Toro Trading Card giveaway, along with a full team autograph signing 5:00 - 5:45 pm. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
