Toros Close Regular Season with South Texas Derby Match

Edinburg, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (13,7,9) host the South Texas Derby against San Antonio FC (10,11,8) to conclude the regular season. Playoff implications will add excitement to the match since San Antonio FC needs a win to guarantee a spot in playoffs and the Toros can potentially finish the season in first place with a win and other matches going their way.

Rio Grande Valley was kept busy in their last match but was able to escape Orange County with the three points. The Toros defeated the Blues FC 1-0. Orange County Blues FC started the match dangerously and sought out a goal. A win would secure the team a place in playoffs. The Toros defense was able to fend off the OC attack and was lethal when an opportunity presented itself. In the 80th minute, RGV's Dzenan Catic headed in a Kyle Murphy cross to put the Toros ahead by the minimal difference and get the win.

San Antonio FC defeated Tulsa Roughnecks FC in an important match. The game went without a goal in the first half thanks to San Antonio's goalkeeper, Matt Cardone. He stopped a penalty to keep San Antonio even with the Roughnecks. San Antonio found the ball in the back of the net in the second half. Franck Tayou scored early in the second half in the 49th minute. Shawn Chin doubled San Antonio's lead in the 87th minute to secure the 2-0 win.

After the conclusion of regular season, the Toros prepare for the first round of playoffs. Rio Grande Valley will be hosting a match at the H-E-B Park and will wait to see whom the club will be facing.
