ON THE SCORESHEET
- Connor Carrick recorded three goals, his first professional hat trick, while adding two assists. Carrick's hat trick was the first by an AHL defenseman in the Calder Cup Playoffs since Steve Wagner scored three times for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and his five points were the most by any AHL player in a postseason game since Ryan Potulny's five-point night for Binghamton, both occurring on April 23, 2011 (per AHL).
- Viktor Loov scored the game winning goal for the Marlies, recording his first point in his first game this post season.
- Garret Sparks came in relief of Antoine Bibeau and turned aside all 12 shots he faced to record his second win of the post season.
- TJ Brennan scored his second goal of the post season. The goal came while on the man advantage and moves Brennan into first on the Marlies All-Time power play goal leaders.
- Zach Hyman recorded his first goal of the post season, scoring the insurance goal 12:14 into the third period.
NOTABLES
- The Toronto Marlies advance to round two of the Calder Cup playoffs, they will face the Albany Devils, AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. Toronto has advanced to the second round in four of the last five seasons.
- The last Marlie to record a hat trick in the post season was Spencer Abbott on May 29, 2014.
- The Marlies recorded two goals on the power play tonight. Toronto's power play ranks second in the post season converting at 27%.
