Rockford IceHogs News Release
Colorado Springs, Colo. - Forward Vince Hinostroza has been added to the 2016 U.S. Men's National Team that will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship May 6-22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Hinostroza, 22, previously represented the United States at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he tied for second on Team USA in goals (3) and third in points (5). He also skated for three U.S. select teams, highlighted by the 2012 World Junior A Challenge where he was named Most Valuable Player after scoring a team-leading six goals and helping Team USA to the tournament title.
The Bartlett, Illinois, native, who made his professional debut with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League at the tail-end of the 2014-15 season, finished his first full professional season with the IceHogs by leading the team with 51 points (18g-33a) in 66 games. It marked the first time in team history that the IceHogs were led in scoring by a rookie. Additionally, Hinostroza skated in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks after making his NHL debut on Oct. 17, 2015.
Prior to his professional career, Hinostroza spent two seasons (2013-15) with the University of Notre Dame men's ice hockey program where he received 2013-14 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and 2014-15 Hockey East First All-Star Team honors.
Hinostroza joins fellow Blackhawks draft pick, Tyler Motte, who will also skate for the U.S. Team. Motte recently completed his junior season at the University of Michigan before joining the IceHogs on an amateur tryout. Motte finished the regular season at a point-per-game clip with five points (2g-3a) in five games. The 21 year-old then led Rockford in the Calder Cup Playoffs with two goals in three contests.
