ON THE SCORESHEET

- Connor Brown scored twice, including the game winning goal while shorthanded. He was named the game's first star.

- Garret Sparks turned aside all 31 shots directed his way to earn his first professional shutout in the post season.

- Ben Smith scored the insurance goal for the Marlies, his first goal of the post season, 2:50 into the third period.

- Kasperi Kapanen recorded an assist on the Ben Smith goal. The assist is the sixth AHL playoff point in eight AHL playoff games for Kapanen.

- Josh Leivo assisted on the final Marlies goal, giving him points in back to back contests. The assist also moves Leivo into second among Marlies all time playoff assist leaders with 14.

- Andrew Campbell recorded his first point of the post season, assisting on the Marlies second goal.

NOTABLES

- The last time the Marlies shutout an opponent in the playoffs was May 16, 2014 against the Chicago Wolves.

- The Marlies were 3/3 on the penalty kill while being held off the score sheet in five power play opportunities. Toronto has not allowed a goal while shorthanded this post season.
