Worcester Tornadoes News Release
Worcester, MA (May 24, 2005) â At long last, the Worcester Tornadoes will begin their inaugural season Friday night against the North Shore Spirit in Lynn at New Fraser Field. The teams will play a doubleheader, with the first game starting at 6:05 p.m.
The Tornadoes, led by manager Rich Gedman, will technically be the home team for the two games, even though the games are in Lynn. Through a special arrangement with the Spirit, the Tornadoes are able to make tickets available to fans wishing to make the trip to cheer on the "home" team and witness Worcester baseball history. Tickets for the doubleheader are general admission and cost $5 each. Tickets can be purchased for the doubleheader at the box office, located at 313 Main Street, or over the phone by calling (508) 792-2288.
Following the doubleheader, the Tornadoes will be on the road for seven games, beginning with a three-game set in Brockton to take on the Rox, followed by a return to Lynn for four more. The Tornadoes will then come home to christen newly renovated Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Monday, June 6 at 7:05 p.m. against Brockton. The game will mark the return of professional baseball to Worcester after a 71-year absence.
Opening Week will continue against Brockton on June 7 and 8, and then the New Jersey Jackals from June 10 through 12. Tickets for these games and every Tornadoes home game can be purchased at the ticket office, over the phone or online at www.worcestertornadoes.com.
