Tornadoes to Host Open Tryout

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Tornadoes, in conjunction with the Brockton Rox and Nashua Pride, will be hosting an open tryout at Hanover Insurance Park as Fitton Field during the second week of April.

Advanced registration is available by completing a registration form, remitting a registration fee of $25 and mailing both to the Worcester Tornadoes, ATTN: Tryout Camp, 303 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608. On-site registration will take place at the ballpark at noon on Friday, April 11, and will require a $50 registration fee. On-field workouts will run from 9am-4pm on Saturday, April 12. Kevin Hartigan, an area scout for the New York Mets, and Tornadoes Manager Rich Gedman and his coaching staff will oversee the tryout.

"We're excited to offer this opportunity for aspiring professional ballplayers to showcase their skills," said Tornadoes President and General Manager R.C. Reuteman. "We're always on the lookout for talent, and by teaming up with Brockton and Nashua to hold this tryout, we're hopeful we'll come across a diamond in the rough."

Prospective ballplayers will be contacted by one of the three teams after the conclusion of the tryouts, if a team chooses to offer them a contract for the 2008 season. The Tornadoes' '08 campaign begins on the road at on Thursday, May 22. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. Worcester 's home opener will take place a week later, on Thursday, May 29, also against the Skyhawks. First pitch is set for 6:05pm. All 94 regular season games and all three preseason exhibition games can be heard live on WTAG AM 580 and online at www.wtag.com.
