Worcester Tornadoes News Release

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Tornadoes' logo has been selected by CNBC's Darren Rovell, author of the popular "Sports Biz" blog, for inclusion in the Second Annual CNBC.com Minor League Baseball Logo Tournament.

Rovell picked his 64 favorite Minor League Baseball logos, and seeded them, 1-through-16, in March Madness style brackets. From Monday, March 10, through Monday, March 31, fans will have a chance to visit the CNBC website and vote for their favorite logos. The tournament is single elimination, and advancement is determined solely by which logo receives the most votes on the day of its matchup.

The Tornadoes are a number 9 seed, and will be "playing" the 8th-seeded Clearwater Threshers (the Philadelphia Phillies' Single-A affiliate in the Florida State League) on Monday, March 17. Voting will open on www.cnbc.com/id/15837629 on Monday morning, and will close at 9am on Tuesday, March 18.

"We are thrilled and honored that the selection committee has included us in the CNBC Minor League Baseball Logo Tournament," said Tornadoes President and General Manager R.C. Reuteman. "We understand that the 8-9 matchups are always among the most competitive first-round contests, but we have a lot of confidence in our logo and our fans' voter turnout. We fully expect to do independent minor league baseball proud with an opening-round victory over Clearwater on Monday."

The Tornadoes are the only Can-Am League to have their logo selected in Rovell's field of 64. If Worcester advances, they would meet the winner of the matchup between the top-seeded Modesto Nuts (Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies in the California League) and the 16th-seeded Lexington Legends (the Houston Astros' Single-A affiliate in the South Atlantic League) for a trip to the CNBC Minor League Baseball Tournament "Sweet 16."
