Texas Tornado News Release

They say winning a National Championship is tough. They say defending it is even tougher.

That is the task presented before the Texas Tornado as they entered Training Camp 2004 last week and begin their quest for back-to-back National Titles.

"We head into camp this season a bit more excited than in previous seasons knowing what type of success we had last year," said Tornado head coach Tony Curtale. "However, training camp is something we take very seriously and is a key element in the development of our players."

The Texas Tornado feel they always have had a bulls eye on their chest as a result of the program's success since its inception back in 1999. But this year will perhaps be the toughest yet. With 13 returning players from last year's National Championship team and five consecutive NAHL Division Titles, the target might be bigger than ever when the Tornado face their NAHL opponents.

"We don't concern our team with the fact that we are the ones to beat, or that our opponents will be gunning for us night in and night out," said Curtale. "We simply focus on becoming a better hockey team, play our game, and develop our players the best we can."
