South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the transfer of Stefan Mueller to USL Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC for an undisclosed fee, pending league and federation approval.

A dynamic left-back, Mueller finished the 2021 USL League One season as the team's fourth-highest goal-scorer, recording four goals, one assist and 13 chances created in 18 appearances. Defensively, Mueller recorded 21 clearances, 11 interceptions and eight tackles.

"We believe almost all squads, no matter how high the division, would benefit from having players like Stefan within their team," Head Coach Ian Cameron commented regarding the departure of Mueller. "Soccer-wise he's a rock - a guy you know will give you consistent output, high standards and good quality in important moments.

"Locker room-wise, Stefan is a dark horse. When I first met him he had an introverted persona; however, as time developed, some outstanding human qualities shined through. We wish him every success in the Championship and RGV Toros, and he can add Tormenta FC as a supporter next year."

Since signing with Tormenta FC in 2020, Mueller has made 34 appearances and played 2,780 minutes over the last two seasons. The Temple University alumni brought European experience with him to the club after playing for TB Uphusen in Germany and Southport FC of England's National League North.

Mueller's move signifies the club's continued commitment to developing players and helping them achieve their highest potential, wherever that may be. South Georgia also hopes to further integrate with the global game and use the transfer market to reinvest in its talent and build its club for today and tomorrow. Tormenta FC thanks Stefan for his efforts and contribution during his time at the club and wishes him the best in his new journey.

The club is excited to open its new soccer-specific stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, during the 2022 season with more details to be announced this Spring. Supporters should purchase tickets in advance to secure their spot in the new stadium and cheer on Tormenta FC across USL League One, League Two and W League.
