Fuego Alum Orlando Ramirez Joins Fuego FC 2 as Head Coach

Fresno, Calif. - Fuego FC 2 announced on Tuesday Fuego alum Orlando Ramirez joins as Head Coach of the franchise's League Two team. This is the first technical staff announcement by the Club ahead of its League Two inaugural season.

A Fresno native, Ramirez attended Roosevelt High School and Fresno Pacific University. Ramirez played and capitained during the first iteration of Fuego FC, then Fresno Fuego, for a total of six seasons. As a four-time all-conference selection and three-time All-American as a Sunbird, Ramirez became the highest draft pick in program history when the San Jose Earthquakes selected him 31st overall in the 2005 MLS Draft.

"This club holds a special place in my heart, as it provided many memories, friendships, and ultimately a platform to realize my own professional playing aspirations," shares Orlando Ramirez, Head Coach for Fuego FC 2. "I am truly honored to come back and lead the next generation of talented footballers from the Central Valley in realizing their own dreams. Dale Fuego!"

Currently, Ramirez also serves as head coach of the Clovis Community College women's soccer program. As the first coach in the program's history, he has led them to winning records in each of their five seasons, including four postseason berths and one conference championship. Between 2008-2016 he served as assistant coach for the Sunbirds recording three conference championships and five national tournament appearances. During his four years as head coach of the Buchanan High School varsity girls team, the Bears earned four CIF Valley championships, three conference championships, and four CIF Regional appearances.
