STATESBORO, Ga. - In a highly anticipated matchup, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Greenville Triumph SC faced off in the Peach States Derby. Tormenta FC, riding high on a seven-game undefeated streak against Greenville, was determined to extend its dominance over its opponents. South Georgia secured an impressive eighth consecutive undefeated game against Greenville after defeating Triumph SC 2-0, with Jackson Khoury scoring his first professional goal and Pedro Fonseca scoring his first for the team.

South Georgia's offensive presence in the first half allowed it to score the first goal of the night. The offensive line had been applying pressure on the opposition goalkeeper for the better part of the first half, and it finally paid off. As the goalkeeper attempted to play the ball out from the back, he turned the ball over. Seizing the opportunity, Fonseca made a superb back heel pass to Khoury, who took the perfectly placed pass and finessed a shot to the bottom right corner of the keeper's net.

In the 38th minute, Khoury returned the favor for Fonseca. Mukwelle Akale's run from the right side of the pitch saw him dribble past the defenders. Akale's lightning pace and skillful footwork allowed him to make his way into the box before crossing the ball into the penalty area, finding Khoury. Without hesitation, Khoury unselfishly passed the ball to Fonseca, who was in a perfect position to take the shot. The shot flew past the helpless goalkeeper into the back of the net.

In the second half, Greenville was able to apply more pressure to Tormenta FC's defense line; however, the defensive line was rock solid, shutting down Greenville's attack time and time again and limiting the Triumph offense to only two shots on target compared to South Georgia's five.

Tormenta's offense was firing on all cylinders, putting pressure on Greenville's defense and scoring goals when it had the chance. It was a dominant performance from Tormenta FC. With this win, South Georgia is now unbeaten against Greenville in eight consecutive games, with three consecutive wins, two in Greenville and the most recent one in Statesboro.

South Georgia is poised to make a strong push for the championship title in the upcoming season. Fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.

Following Saturday's match, Tormenta FC is set to go on the road after several home games to take on Lexington SC for the first time in club history next Saturday April 15 at 7 p.m. ET from Toyota Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.
