Burlington Bees News Release

Pedro Toribio's single with two outs in the 10th inning scored Julio Concepcion and helped cap a two-run inning and 3-2 walk-off win for the Bees over the Bandits on Monday night at Community Field.

The Burlington Bees (52-76, 26-37) entered Monday's contest with a 0-52 record when trailing after eight innings, but the Bees put together a couple of fantastic comebacks in the 9th and 10th innings to defeat the Quad Cities River Bandits (75-56, 37-25).

The Bees second rally of the game occurred in the 10th inning, trailing 2-1 with two outs against Patrick Christensen (0-1). Chevy Clarke hit a ball just in front of home plate and Jobduan Morales' throw to first hit Clarke, allowing him to reach on an infield single. Clarke stole second to put a man in scoring position for Matt Scioscia. Scioscia struck out and reached on a wild pitch. Morales tried to throw Scioscia out but his throw went wide of first allowing Clarke to come home and tie the game at two. Riley Good followed with a slow roller to second and the throw to Christensen covering first was not in time, putting two men on with two outs. Julio Concepcion came in to run for Scioscia at second base and he scored the winning run when Pedro Toribio smacked a ground ball into left field to give the Bees the victory.

Kurt Spomer entered tonight's game having not allowed a run in August, but he quickly allowed the Bandits to take a 2-1 lead in the 10th on back-to-back doubles by Rio Ruiz and Austin Elkins. Eswarlin Jimenez (1-0) came into the game to get the final out of the inning and needed two pitches, while also earning the victory.

Quad Cities led 1-0 until the Bees put together their first comeback of the game in the 9th against Zach Morton. Good led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Toribio. Angel Rosa grounded out, but Hinkle singled home Good with two outs to tie the game at one.

Ryan Crowley was sensational for Burlington, tying a career-high with eight innings pitched to go along with his seven strikeouts. The lone run he allowed came in the second when Danry Vasquez led off the frame with a single, stole second and scored on Ruiz' single. He retired 12 in a row at one point during the game.

Burlington ends a five-game losing streak against Quad Cities, which goes back to last week at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bees will try and carry this momentum in Tuesday's contest when Brandon Love opposes Daniel Minor at 6:30 p.m. at Community Field.
