Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards President and General Manager Howard Cornfield today announced that Kerry Toporowski has rejoined the Mallards as an assistant to Coach Paul Gillis.
Toporowski spent six seasons on the ice with the Mallards. He was regarded as one of the most feared enforcers in hockey until his retirement this summer due to injuries. "I am excited to have Topper remain a part of our organization," said Cornfield. "He will be an asset to Paul behind the bench."
In addition to his role as assistant coach, Toporowski will continue his career as a financial advisor with American Express in Davenport.
Upon Toporowski's retirement this August, the Mallards announced that his #77 will be the first jersey in franchise history to be retired. Kerry Toporowski Night is scheduled for November 27th vs. Fort Wayne.
