Toporowski and Chudley Among Chiefs Players Granted Temporary Loans
October 30, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Thursday that four players have been granted temporary transfers to begin the 2020-21 hockey season:
Luke Toporowski (F; 2001) - to Sioux Falls (USHL)
Jordan Chudley (D; 2001) - to Winkler (MJHL)
Grady Lane (F; 2003) - to Virden (MJHL)
Logan Cunningham (D; 2004) - to Osoyoos (KIJHL)
The loans will offer players the opportunity to continue their development by playing competitive hockey in anticipation of the WHL's scheduled start date on January 8, 2021. The league announced the approval of such loan transactions on October 23.
"This is an opportunity for WHL roster players to continue their development by playing hockey at a competitive level," stated WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. "We felt it was very important to accommodate the requests of WHL roster players to play competitive hockey on a temporary basis in anticipation of WHL Training Camps beginning after Christmas."
Toporowski and Chudley were regular contributors on the Chiefs' roster last season, while Lane and Cunningham were prospects playing in other leagues.
All four players will remain on the Chiefs' protected list and be eligible for full participation with Spokane for the 2020-21 WHL season. The team is expected to begin an abbreviated training camp in late December.
