No 8: Three unanswered goals lead to first win in Scottsdale
After three unsuccessful attempt to earn three points for the first time in Scottsdale, Arizona United SC looked like it would fall short for a fourth consecutive time. Less than ten minutes into its May 16 match against the Austin Aztex, Austin took a quick, 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later, the Aztex went up 2-0.
But United clawed its way back into the match. In the 34th minute, midfielder Alex Shinsky was brought down in the box and forward Brad Stisser buried the penalty to cut the lead in half. Just two minutes into the second half, forward Long Tan equalized.
The final and decisive goal came in the 69th minute. It was Tan again, this time scoring from the penalty spot to make it 3-2, Arizona.
United held on for their first win at Scottsdale Stadium.
