Tonight's Newport Gulls Game vs. Ocean State Rained Out
July 15, 2015 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Newport Gulls News Release
Tonight's Newport Gulls home game vs. the Ocean State Waves in Pell Bridge Series action never began at Cardines Field due to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms in the area.
Immediately after pregame festivities and the singing of the National Anthem on People's Credit Union FANatic About Reading Night, the skies opened up, and the team's new tarp was placed on the field for just the second time this season. However, unlike the last such occurrence in June, the showers tonight were too heavy to begin play.
The game never did officially get underway and was postponed by the teams' General Managers at 7 p.m. No makeup date has been announced. Tickets for tonight's rainout will be honored at any remaining Newport Gulls home contest.
The Gulls are off on Thursday and host the New Bedford Bay Sox on Friday night, July 17 at 6:35 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. for Mark Weed Memorial Scholarship Night.
