
Tomahawks Fall in Thursday Morning Contest

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights engaged in a Thursday morning game at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena which saw the Knights skate away with a 4-1 victory over the Tomahawks.
The Knights broke the scoreless tie early in the first period when Dmitriy Zaitsev scored on the power play.
Braden Brown registered his fourth of the season minutes later to increase the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lead to 2-0 going into the first intermission.
After the two teams exchanged chances, Brown would deflect a puck past the glove of Tomahawks goalie Andrew Lindgren to extend the Knights advantage to 3-0. The goal came with less than a minute to play in the second period.
The Tomahawks would cut the three-goal deficit to two when Luke Lynch wristed a shot past Knights netminder Grant Valentine. Lynch's eighth goal of the season was assisted by Niko Coffman and Andrew Romano.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton regained the three-goal lead when Blake Busch scored 42 seconds later to make it 4-1.
Lindgren stopped 27 Knights shots in the loss while Valentine stopped 30 pucks in the victory.
