Walleye Notes

- Blinded by the Sun! Toledo started its trip to Florida with a 4-1 loss on Wednesday to the Everblades. It was just the fifth time all season long that the Walleye were held to one goal. Toledo started hot on Friday with two goals just five minutes into the game. The Everblades shut down Toledo's offense from there and railed to beat the Walleye 3-2. Saturday night, the Walleye erased a 2-1 Florida lead with back to back goals early in the third period only to see the Everblades win 4-3.

- Getting out Early! Toledo scored four of its six goals this week in the first period. The Walleye held leads after the first in both games on Friday and Saturday. For the season, Toledo has outscored opponents 39-29 in the opening period. The Walleye hold a record of 11-4-0-2 when they have been leaders following the first.

- Power Outage! Toledo's power play continued to struggle this week in Florida, going 0-9 in the three games. The Walleye have not scored a power play since December 31st in Fort Wayne. Toledo does not have a PP goal in its last 21 opportunities. Overall, the Walleye are tied with Greenville for 20th in the ECHL at 14.8% on the power play.

- Gametime! Toledo will continue its five game road trip with stops this week in Fort Wayne and Evansville. On Friday night the Walleye will invade Fort Wayne to take on the Komets. Toledo is 4-2-0 in the first six games played between the two teams this season. The following night will bring another trip to Evansville where the IceMen will be waiting. The Walleye won the last meeting, but are just 1-3-0 this year against Evansville.
