Toivonen Returns While Hirschfeld and Carruth go to AHL

(Toledo, OH) - Goaltender Hannu Toivonen (toy-vo-nen) has returned to Toledo from his loan to the Iowa Wild of the AHL. Forward Alden Hirschfeld has been loaned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. Goaltender Mac Carruth has been recalled to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Toivonen appeared in four games with Milwaukee and then one with Iowa since heading to the AHL on January 14. He went 1-1-1 (2.50 GAA and .909 SVP) in his time with the Admirals and lost his only appearance with the Wild. Toivonen won his last three starts with the Walleye and posted a 7-8-0 record, 3.61 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. He was a runner up for ECHL goaltender of the week for January 6-12 after going 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .955 SVP. The 29 year old goaltender appeared in 61 games at the NHL level with Boston and St. Louis in his career.

Hirschfeld heads back to Grand Rapids, where he collected an assist in three games played earlier this season for the Griffins. The Sylvania, Ohio native has 29 points (9G, 20A) this year in 49 games with the Walleye, his first in Toledo. The Griffins host Iowa Friday and Saturday.

Carruth posted a record of 8-15-0 with the Walleye this year with a 3.36 GAA and .898 SVP. The native of Shorewood, Minnesota, has appeared in 7 games in Rockford with a 2-2-1 record, a 3.36 GAA and .880 SVP. The IceHogs are in Milwaukee Friday night before hosting the Admirals on Saturday.
