Ontario Reign News Release

LOVELAND, CO - The Ontario Reign (35-16-2-2), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, held on to their early lead to beat the Colorado Eagles (27-16-6-4) 4-3 in Colorado on Wednesday evening.

The Reign didn't waste any time getting on the board when Matt Register wristed a shot top shelf from in close to Marc Cheverie for the first goal of the night just 4:10 into the game. Register added another tally moments later at 6:14 with a rocket from the point that beat Cheverie's glove.

Mark Nemec put the Eagles on the board at 6:37 of the first period. Maxim Kitsyn set up the next goal with a beautiful, tape-to-tape, back-handed feed across the Colorado zone to Cody Sol. Sol launched a shot past the glove of Cheverie to give the Reign a 3-1 lead while on the power play.

Kyle Kraemer scored in the second frame to bring Colorado within one goal for a score of 3-2 in favor of the Reign. Riley Nelson broke out of the Reign zone and on a short-handed breakaway scored five-hole on Jussi Olkinuora to tie the game 3-3 at 16:02.

Chris Crane lit the lamp in the only third period goal to put the Reign up 4-3 with a shot that threaded the needle between Cheverie's blocker and the goal post.

Olkinuora earned the win with 20 saves; Cheverie took the loss with 20 stops.
