Toivonen posts another shutout

The Providence Bruins and Worcester IceCats played the fifth game of their 10-game season series on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, with the Bruins taking a 1-0 decision. The Black and Gold took five of a possible six points over the weekend. The Bruins are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 24-18-3-6 record (57 points), two points behind Worcester.

Providence goaltender Hannu Toivonen (19-14-3) stopped all 27 shots he faced for his sixth shutout of the season, his second of the weekend and his second in as many starts. Toivonen is tied for the league lead in shutouts, and ranks second in franchise history with eight in 75 games. Tim Thomas holds the franchise mark with 10.

Bruin center Brad Boyes scored the game-winning goal in the third period on his 21st tally of the season. Boyes has goals (3) in three straight games, and points (5-3-8) in six straight. He tallied both of the Bruins' game-winning goals this weekend, and has a team-high six game-winners.

The Bruins return home to action on Friday, February 11 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Manchster Monarchs.
