Toga Party, High School Rivalry Night, Backpack Giveaway this Weekend

DUBUQUE, Iowa -TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! A fun filled weekend at the Mystique Community Ice Center begins Friday night, as the Fighting Saints will ask fans to pledge their support to help celebrate the 35 th Anniversary of the classic film "Animal House." The Fighting Saints will take the, "Party at Our House" slogan quite literally this weekend, hosting a Toga Party for Friday night's game versus Sioux City at 7:35 p.m. The fun will have only just begun when on Saturday night, Dubuque does battle with Prairie Farms Cowbell Cup rival Waterloo for High School Rivalry Night at 7:05 p.m. Saturday marks our Drawstring Backpack giveaway night where the first 1,000 fans at the Mystique Community Ice Center receive a red Fighting Saints bag.

Fans are encouraged to rip that white sheet off the bed and modify it into a toga to join in on the fun Friday night. Fans are asked to dress the part to help honor the National Lampoon classic film that arrived on the scene in 1978 and starred the late John Belushi. Much like the characters enjoyed in the move, the mood will be festive, and the experience at the arena will feature music from the film, including the song, "Shout," which is performed during the toga party in the movie by Otis Day and the Knights.

The evening will feature trivia from the movie, including an update on where Bluto, Otter, Flounder, and the rest of the Animal House gang are today.

Saturday marks a pivotal matchup on the ice as the Fighting Saints host rival Waterloo. With a win in regulation, the Fighting Saints can pass the Black Hawks in the Prairie Farm Cowbell Cup standings. The first 1,000 fans that enter the arena Saturday receive a Fighting Saints Drawstring Backpack. The giveaway is red in color with black accents, and features the Fighting Saints logo prominently displayed.

Saturday is also High School Rivalry Night, as the Fighting Saints will welcome students from area high schools to the arena. The night will feature students from Dubuque and the Tri-State regions local high schools competing for bragging rights. Fans are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing their team's colors.

Students from Dubuque Senior High School, Hempstead High School, and Wahlert High School also receive a special ticket deal for Saturday's game. With a student ID, students receive a discounted corner ticket for only $10. As many students possible are encouraged to attend Saturday's game to help their school win the completion for best fan support among local high schools.

The Fighting Saints come into this weekend as the USHL's top team at 37-9-4, and hold a six-point lead over the Sioux Falls Stampede in the race for the Anderson Cup, awarded to the USHL's top team in the regular season.
