Todd Robinson Named CHL Player of the Week
November 8, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- Having launched the 2011-12 campaign as one of only two remaining teams still undefeated through an impressive 4(3-0-1) mark, the Evansville IceMen of the Central Hockey League are beginning to reap some of the benefits through some richly earned and deserved individual awards.
On this date, the IceMen, in collaboration with the Central Hockey League, have announced that center TODD ROBINSON has been named the OAKLEY / CHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the week of October 31st through November 6th.
ROBINSON, 33, has launched his first-ever season clad in the Evansville coat of arms with a prodigious offensive output. Through his club's initial 4-games, he has averaged a prolific 3-points per game totaling 12-points on 2-goals, 10-assists. The Trail, B.C. product has delivered 4-consecutive multiple point performances including two 4-point single game masterpieces. The second one came in the IceMen 4-1 triumph the past Friday night at Bloomington where "T. Rob" was instrumental and integral on all 4 of his team's winning strikes, delivering 2-goals and 2-assists with his first goal generated shorthanded. The pre-eminent prince of points playmaking pivot was hailed the game's #1 Star in that contest.
Then in the IceMen home opening night extravaganza Saturday night at the fabulous Ford Center before a near sellout crowd of 8,722, the 13-year veteran centerman earned #2 Star honors in maestroing a pair of assists in his club's 3-1 dismissal of the archrival Fort Wayne Komets. For the week, he engineered 6-points in 2-games on 2-goals, 4-assists with a stellar +3 rating.
Presently ranked second in the CHL scoring derby, Robinson's 10-assists and 4-PPA tie him for the league-leadership in both important departments. Dating back to last season when he finished #2 in CHL scoring as a member of the Odessa Jackalopes, the 5-8, 175lb playmaker extraordinaire has increased his point-scoring streak to a masterful 22-games, amassing 47-points in that span for an average of over 2-points per game. Remarkably, "Tape-to-Tape" Todd has been intrinsically involved in 12 Evansville's first 15-GF or 80% of the team's scoring output.
The "Robinsonian" career numbers are of another stratosphere as delineated at this hour of the season. In 809-pro career games, he has amassed an astronomical 1,146-points on 313-goals and 833-assists. He has averaged nearly 1.5 points per game and over 1-assist a game in his entire career.
