Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, proud affiliates of the Florida Panthers and San Antonio Rampage, announced on Tuesday a number of roster moves including the signing of goalie Wylie Rogers. In addition to signing Rogers, David Marshall and Jake Hauswirth were assigned to the Bees by San Antonio and the Bees placed Dan Nicholls and Marc-Andre Carre on waivers.
Rogers returns to the Valley after playing two seasons with the Bees in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Rogers sits high in the Killer Bees record book including second all-time in games played, minutes played, shots faced, saves made and wins.
Rogers best season in the Valley came during the 2008-09 year when Rogers went 18-10-3 with a 3.12 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage. Rogers was integral in the Killer Bees playoff run where the Bees won their first ever playoff series.
Rogers spent last season in Europe playing for the Heerenveen Flyers in the Netherlands. Rogers turned in a 3.51 goals against average with the Flyers last season.
"I'm excited to bring Wylie on board. We needed to bring another goalie in and Wylie has two great years in the Valley under his belt already, "said General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "Not only is he popular but he is a good goalie as well."
The Killer Bees also received David Marshall and Jake Hauswirth back on the team from the San Antonio Rampage. Marshall played two games with the Rampage scoring one goal.
To make space on the roster the Bees placed Dan Nicholls and Marc-Andre Carre on waivers.
The Killer Bees continue their nine-game homestand Wednesday night against the Allen Americans at 7:00 p.m. The entire month of November is RGV Food Bank Month. If you bring in four cans of food to any Bees game during this month you receive a free buy one, get one ticket!
