Tobs win 5-2!
WILSON, N.C. - The Wilson Tobs defeated the Fayetteville Swampdogs, 5-2, Friday at Historic Fleming Stadium.
The Wilson Tobs improve to (3-5) and the Swampdogs fall to (4-4) on the season.
Game Rewind
-Tobs started things off in the first off a RBI single top left field from Dawnoven Smith to take an early 1-0 lead
-The Tobs added two more in the fourth off of an error by the Swampdogs' shortstop, 3-0
-The Swampdogs scored its first run in the top of the seventh off of a sacrifice fly to right field, 3-1
-A wild pitch in the seventh added another run for the Tobs, 4-1
- Roberto Rivera hit a single up the middle that drove in a run for the Tobs in the seventh, 5-1
-The Swampdogs added another run in the eighth off of a lead off homerun to left field, 5-2
At the Plate
-Smith went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI
- Jacob Williamson went 2-for-4 with a run scored
On the Mound
- Sam Luchansky started on the mound for the Tobs and went for seven innings, gave up two hits, three walks, one run and tallied six strikeouts. Luchansky received the win on the night
- Will Edwards entered the game in the eighth and threw one inning, gave up one hit, one run and recorded a strikeout
- KJ McAllister entered the game in the ninth and closed the game and collected two strikeout and the save
On Deck
The Tobs will head to Edenton, N.C to play a doubleheader against the Edenton Steamers on Saturday, June 10th. The Tobs will come back home on Sunday, June 11th to face off against the Peninsula Pilots at 5 p.m. at Historic Fleming Stadium. Sunday at the park it will be Faith & Family Night as well as Bark in the Park where you can bring your dogs to the stadium! Gates will open at 4 p.m..
The Wilson Tobs enter their 21 st season as an original member within the Coastal Plain League for the 2017 Summer. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see an expanded community outreach effort, increased participation in helping the less fortunate and more exciting entertainment for the Wilson Community. We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Sponsors Partners and the Dedicated Fans throughout the city of Wilson. The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the draft and have produced a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB, including Cy Young & MVP winner Justin Verlander.
