Titans Spoil Johnstown's Home Opener, Win 6-5 in Overtime

JOHNSTOWN, Pa - Despite surrendering five power play markers, the New Jersey Titans skated away with a 6-5 overtime victory in Johnstown, Pa.

Titans went to work early as Keegan Miller netted the game's first goal. Andrew Durham sent a shot off the pads of Tomahawks goalie Jake Gwillim and Miller capitalizes, scoring his fifth of the season.

Miller added another goal minutes later when Anthony Cusanelli evaded two Tomahawks defenders and sent a backhand pass to Miller in the low slot. Miller slid the puck past Gwillim for the 2-0 Titans lead.

New Jersey added to their lead 57 seconds into the second period when Joe Schuler scored his second of the period.

Johnstown rattled of three unanswered power play goals to tie the hockey game at 3-3.

However, with time ticking away in the middle frame, NAHL veteran Joe Nathe wristed a puck past the glove of Gwillim to give New Jersey the 4-3 going into intermission.

After moments of back-and-forth play, the Titans would increase their lead to 5-3 when Brice fired home his fifth of the season.

New Jersey would find their way to the penalty box and Johnstown scored two more power play goals to knot the game at 5 a piece. Johnstown would finish the game 5-of-9 on the man advantage.

The game would go to bonus hockey where Bruno Birzitis scored and won the game for the Titans.

With the two=point victory, New Jersey now has 17 points for a first-place lead.

The teams lock horn again tomorrow Saturday Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pa.
