Brockton Rox News Release

Torrington looked primed to pull out a victory late in the game against Brockton, but a late comeback made things interesting. But ultimately, the Titans offense was too much for Brockton.

The Titans poured it on right from the get-go. 5 runs in the first two innings was the start to Torrington's big night. The Titans had seven hits in the first two innings that allowed them to score 5 runs. Brockton would tack on two runs of their own in the first, including an RBI triple by Jack Lambrecht.

After scoreless 3rd and 4th innings from both teams, Torrington added to their 3 run lead by adding two runs in the 6th with an RBI double by Mike Kochiss.

Down 7-3 in the 8th, the Rox rallied. The first 3 batters of the inning loaded the bases to begin the rally. Things looked discouraging after Eric Feliz grounded into a 6-4-3 double play, but Chase Smartt scored and made it a 7-4 ballgame. Dillon Cooper continued the rally with an RBI single, but work was still to be done. Trent Turner pinched-hit for Jake Marotta and he answered the bell. He hit a 2-run home run by over the Titans bullpen to tie the game.

Despite Brockton's ferocious comeback, Torrington had yet another big inning of their own to close the deal. After David Griffin let up a leadoff single in the 9th, Josh Smith came in the game for Brockton. Two consecutive walks loads the bases. Back to back hits by Evan Klugerman and Mike DiMartino added 4 runs to Torrington's lead.

Brockton was unable to turn their rally caps back on to make things interesting once again, but Torrington retired the side and came out on top 11-7.

The Rox (11-14) dropped their 4th straight game and now lie 3 games below .500. The Rox will play their next 6 games on the road as their next opponent is against the conference-leading Seacoast Mavericks (16-7). The Rox will finally return to Campanelli Stadium on Thursday July 7th when they play the Mavericks once again. First pitch is at 7:05. Come and enjoy $2.00 Miller Lite and Coors draft beer while you watch your Rox in action!
