Worcester Bravehearts News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bravehearts' (16-6) five-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night in front of 1,076 fans in Worcester. The North Shore Navigators (9-15) rode the arm of pitcher Cole O'Connor (Dartmouth/Bedford, MA) in the 4-2 win.
Greg Stagani (West Liberty/Richmond, OH) got the start for Worcester and was successfully dealing until he pitched to Alex Brickman (Siena/Andover, MA) gave the Navigators a 2-0 lead when he went deep in both of his first two at bats in the second and fourth innings. Stagani ultimately earned the loss after pitching five innings and allowing three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and just one walk.
North Shore extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the seventh, but Tyler Lonestar (Saint Marys/Danville, CA) and eventually Danny Barlok (Holy Cross/Shrewsbury, MA) kept the Navigators' offense at bay for the remainder of the game.
The Bravehearts' hot bats were cooled down by O'Connor who was able to keep Worcester off of the scoreboard until the seventh inning. The Bravehearts fought back when Mike Coggeshall (Assumption/Shrewsbury, MA) took home on a passed ball and Dante Ricciardi (Georgetown/West Boylston, MA) recorded a RBI single, lessening the gap to two runs with a score of 4-2.
Unfortunately for Worcester, that is where the score would stay as Sean O'Neill (Brandeis University/Reading, MA) came in and pitched the final two scoreless innings for North Shore.
Coggeshall extended his hit streak to 15 games with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning, ending his day with two hits in four at bats with one run scored.
O'Connor received the win and finished his impressive day with seven innings pitched and three strikeouts while allowing just six hits and two runs.
The Worcester Bravehearts' next game is on Thursday, June 30th as they play the Bristol Blues in Worcester at 7:05pm. Tickets for all future Bravehearts home games are available at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508-438- 3773.
