TRENTON, NJ (January 10, 2004) – The Titans fell to the Dayton Bombers 3-2 in the overtime shootout tonight, as Andrew Penner stopped 40 of the Titans 42 shots during regulation and all four Titans shooters in the overtime shootout. Allen held his own as well turning away 44 Bombers shots through the overtime, but let Janne Jokila and Oliver Proulx get puck into the net to come away with his first loss in four starts.

The struck early, however, with P.J. Martin was in the penalty box, serving two minutes for a hooking call. Devin Rask took the puck at the top of the face-off circle on the far side. Rask fired a low wrist shot towards Dayton goaltender Andrew Penner, which was deflected into the goal by a defender's stick giving the Titans a 1-0 lead. It was Titans third short-handed goal in two games against the Bombers.

With 58 seconds remaining in the first period, Dayton would finally convert on the fourth penalty called against the Titans in the first period. With Jay Leach in the box for corss-checking, Alex Johnstone put a shot off the glass behind the net which ricocheted to Dayton center Chad Theuer by the near post. Theuer put it past Andrew Allen to even the score.

After a scoreless second period, Dayton defenseman Nate Kiser would score the go-ahead goal as his wrist shot tipped off a Titan stick under Andrew Allen's glove, on the near side, 3:11 into the third period. As the clock ticked away another 2:47, the Titans Chris Pittman blindly backhanded the puck into the slot which Scott Bertoli roofed over Penner's glove side to tie up the game.

Both teams battled it out in a scoreless 4-on-4 overtime. However, Dayton forwards Janne Jokila and Oliver Proulx would beat Andrew Allen in the shootout, while Penner stopped all four of the Titans shots for the win. The loss, coupled with a win from the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight pushes the Titans back into 7th place in the Northern Division by a point.
