Texas Wildcatters News Release

Long Beach, CA (January 9, 2004) - The Texas Wildcatters continued their six-game road trip with a 5-3 victory against Long Beach in their first of two games in a row with the Ice Dogs. Brian Passmore gave the Wildcatters the lead in the first as he worked through a check on the far boards for his third goal with Texas and eighth of the season. Long Beach would tie the game late in the first, on Trevor Read's shot from the right point.

Lucas Smital scored his first of two goals in the game in the second as the Wildcatters and Ice Dogs took at 2-2 tie into the third Period.

The third lead of the night would be the charm for Texas as Brad Fraser scored on a wicked-wrist shot from the left point. John Snowden gave Texas the cushion that they would need when he banged home a John Campbell rebound for his team leading 14th goal of the season. The Wildcatters were holding onto a 4-3 lead when Smital added his 10th of the year on a breakaway pass from Martin Masa. The five goals were more than enough for Wildcatters goaltender Davis Parley, who made 28 saves for his eighth win of the year.
