Titans Edge Chiefs 7-5, Win Series 2-0

Johnstown, PA (April 10, 2007) - The Trenton Titans defeated the Johnstown Chiefs 7-5 at the Cambria County War Memorial and winning the North Division Quarterfinal series 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Johnstown opened the scoring early as Gus Katsuras found the rebound of a shot from Maxime Boisclair and put it past Trenton's Gregg Naumenko at 11:13 of the first period. Three minutes later, with the Chiefs on the power play, Trenton's Jim Henkel evened the score at one apiece as he broke down the ice shorthanded and beat Chiefs goalie Morgan Cey with a wrist shot.

Bryan Nathe gave Johnstown a 2-1 lead at 10:18 of the second period with a power-play goal from the point, but Troy Riddle evened the score with another shorthand goal for Trenton at 12:52. Benoit Mondou gave the Titans a 3-2 lead with a wrist shot at 16:11, and Trenton increased the lead to 4-2 21 seconds later when Jake Ortmeyer's shot from the point bounced off of Mark Pandolfo and past Cey at 16:32.

Zbynek Hrdel drew the Chiefs within one as he broke down the ice shorthanded, fired a shot at Naumenko and then batted the bouncing rebound past him at 18:09 of the second period. Trenton got its' two-goal lead back at 19:45 when Troy Riddle scored his second of the night.

The Chiefs battled back to draw the score even at five, with Zbynek Hrdel firing a shot past Naumenko on a drop-pass from Gus Katsuras at 7:22, and Marek Kvapil scoring with a wrist shot from the top of the slot at 14:06. The tie lasted just 52 seconds, as Don Morrison banged a rebound of a shot from Riddle past Cey at 14:58. Mark Pandolfo would score an insurance goal for Trenton at 18:24.

Morgan Cey made 28 saves on 35 shots, and the Chiefs were 1-for-8 on the power play.
