Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Torrington, Connecticut - In 2014, the Bravehearts didn't lose their eighth game until July 1, but 10 games into the 2015 season, Worcester lost their 8th game with a 6-4 defeat to the Torrington Titans on Sunday night, June 14 at Fuessenich Park in Torrington, Connecticut.
Despite taking the first lead of the game, the Worcester Bravehearts couldn't hold it, as the Titans scored twice in the 8th inning to defeat Worcester. Torrington loaded the bases with two outs, and outfielder Nick Lamberti (UConn / East Haven, Connecticut) hit a 2-RBI single to give his team the lead. Bravehearts pitcher Mike Bruemmel (Wheaton College / Bridgewater) took the loss after allowing the go-ahead run to reach base.
Worcester battled back from a 4-2 deficit when outfielder Charlie Ameer (Cochise / Weston, Connecticut) got an RBI on a sacrifice fly in a fifth inning, and infielder Dante Ricciardi (Georgetown / West Boylston) hit an RBI single to tie the game in the seventh inning.
Titans pitcher Colby Tollison (USC-Sumter / Abbeville, South Carolina) gave up the lead in the seventh but still got the win, going three innings allowing only two hits and striking out three. Nick Johnson (URI / Worcester) took over in the ninth, and despite allowing a runner to reach third, held the 2-run lead for his first save of the season.
The Bravehearts will try to get back on track when they return home to face the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night, June 16 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
